  AIOTA Awards 2019 Top


Following were conferred with the All India Occupational Therapists' Association (AIOTA) Awards during the inaugural function of OTICON'2019 at Chandigarh on 8th February, 2019 for their meticulous achievements for the growth of occupational therapy (OT) and the exemplary services for AIOTA.

The Key Note Speaker Dr. Dimitrios Mylonadis, Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, CEO and Clinical Director, Hopscotch Children's Therapy Centre and a Faculty in the Child and Family Practice, London; Guest Speakers Dr. Rehab Zaytoun, MD, a Faculty at Fayoum University, Egypt; Dr. Alok Sharma, MS, MCH, Director and Consultant NeuroGen Brain and Spine Institute, Navi Mumbai; and Dr. Uday Govindrao Bodhankar, MD from Nagpur, Ex National President, Indian Academy of Pediatrics were also felicitated on the occasion.

The 57th annual national conference of the AIOTA will be organized as a gala meet at Mumbai to commemorate the Platinum (70th Year) Jubilee of OT School and Center, Seth G S Medical College and K E M Hospital Mumbai.   Aiota Elections 2020: Online Voting Top


Members of the AIOTA, elect their office bearers once in four years. This year 2019-2020 turns to be an election year to elect its next executive body for the period 2020-2024. General body meeting held at Chandigarh on 9th February, 2019 decided to conduct this year election as paper-free, online voting to facilitate involvement of more members to be active in the election process. The AIOTA is in the process of getting proposals for developing an application to enable online voting process. Online voting may enable all the members to cast their vote, and voting process will be validated through one time password (OTP) sent to mobile/email.

The AIOTA requests all its members to update their email address and contact number in the AIOTA's membership directory, using member login page of the AIOTA website (www.aiota.org) before 31st May, 2019. Only members who have updated their details, will be able to cast their vote in the election process. Chairman, Election Committee may be contacted for further information on the election process.

  IJOT Speciality Edition 2019 Top


The theme for specialty edition of IJOT 2019, Volume 51, Issue 4 (October - December) for the year 2019 is ”Musculoskeletal Sciences and Work Rehabilitation”. IJOT editorial board invites original research articles, review articles and/or case report in the field of Musculoskeletal and Hand Rehabilitation, and Work Rehabilitation based on Ergonomic Principles, from authors across the globe, on or before 31st July, 2019.   Ergonomic Certification by the AIOTA Top


Ergonomic certification by the AIOTA has become mandatory in government tenders, for seating and other furniture ranges. Now many of the major furniture industries are regularly approaching the AIOTA for issuance of certification for ergonomic suitability of their products. The certification is issued after fulfilling the requisite guidelines, followed by inspection by the nominated two member's team of experts in ergonomics.

Dr. Anjali S. Joshi, Formerly Director OT Training, Umeed Child Development Center, Mumbai, is awarded as the top 10 Reviewer for the year 2018 by Annals of International Occupational Therapy, in recognition of quality, quantity and timelines of reviews for the journal.

WHF Emerging Leader Award 2018

Dr. Sureshkumar K. from Wellcome Trust - DBT India Alliance, Fellow and Assistant Professor Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad is honored with WHF Emerging Leader Award 2018, in June, 2018 at Duke Kunshan University, China.

RULA Award

Rula International Innovation and Betterment Excellence in Technical Research has honored Dr. Amitabh Kishor Dwivedi, Professor and Dean Jaipur OT College, and Jaipur and EC Member AIOTA, with an Award of Innovative Scientist in Occupational Therapy in November, 2018 at Trichy, Tamil Nadu.

  WFOT Bulletin Special Issue on Sustainability - call for Articles Top


The World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) invites submissions for the WFOT Bulletin Special Issue on Sustainability, April 2020. The deadline for submissions is: 1st October 2019.

The research, theoretical or case report manuscripts that reflect:

  • The practical effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions in modifying occupational lifestyles for the sake of eco-sustainability (high priority for research papers)
  • Why sustainability is a relevant topic in occupational therapy
  • How occupational therapy practitioners can work with interested occupational therapy service users to facilitate sustainable occupational lifestyles.


Occupational therapy practitioners have always recognized the importance of the environmental context on occupational performance and subsequently on human health and well-being. Concerns about the environmental influence on occupational performance, health, and well-being makes sustainability a core topic for occupational therapy practitioners.   The AIOTA's 3RD annual Fellowship on Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation and Ergonomics, India (Faot: Msk & E, India) 2019 Top


The AIOTA's annual nine-month fellowship program in Advanced Occupational Therapy: Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation and Ergonomics, India, 2019, by the Academic Council of Occupational Therapy (ACOT) is all set to begin in September, 2019 with renowned faculties from India and overseas. The Fellowship is solely intended to enhance the knowledge base of dynamic post graduates in the field of occupational therapy (OT) in the assessment, SMART goal setting, treatment planning, implementation of treatments for musculoskeletal i.e. upper body (hand), lower body and spinal dysfunctions in adults and children, and their continual follow-up assessments for prognostication and return to participation in occupational roles and responsibilities. This course will provide an opportunity to imbibe practical knowledge in the subject through didactic as well as web-based learning, thereby, strengthening the clinical practice in the light of advanced techniques and current evidence.


  Advanced Occupational Therapy Course in Musculoskeletal and Neuro Rehabilitation Top


Jupiter Hospital, Thane, Maharashtra in collaboration with the ACOT, AIOTA is organizing 12-week Advance OT Certificate course on Musculoskeletal and Neurorehabilitation from 6th April to 29th June, 2019 at Jupitar Hospital, Thane. Dr. Amit R. Dhumale, Consultant, Neurorehab Department is the course director and Dr. Priya Tawde, Senior Occupational Therapist, Jupiter Hospital is the course coordinator. The course is open for occupational therapists with minimum Bachelor in OT qualification from AIOTA accredited institution.

PAMOT as an Adjunct to OT

The Advanced Certificate Course on physical agent modalities as an adjunct to OT was successfully organised by Uttar Pradesh Branch of the AIOTA in collaboration with ACOT, AIOTA, Santosh OT College, Ghaziabad and OT Unit of GIPMER, New Delhi from 29th March to 31st March, 2019. It was attended by 53 participants. Dr. Shivani Bhardwaj, EC Member, Uttar Pradesh Branch, AIOTA and Assistant Professor, Santosh OT College, Ghaziabad, was the Organising Convener and Dr. Neeraj Mishra, EC Member, AIOTA and Occupational Therapist at GIPMER, New Delhi, was the Co-Organising Convener of this well organized COTE. President, AIOTA Dr. Anil K. Srivastava was also present during the inaugural function.

Introduction to Office Ergonomics: Module 1

The ACOT is organising advanced certificate course on Office Ergonomics: Module 1 from 20th to 21st April, 2019 at LTM Medical College and LTM General Hospital, Mumbai. Dr. Bharti Jajoo from Bangalore, is the expert faculty for this long awaited academic event being organised by the AIOTA for the first time.

Splinting in Neuro Rehabilitation

One-day workshop on Splinting in Neuro Rehabilitation is being organised by the ACOT on 22nd June, 2019, at G B Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (GIPMER), New Delhi.
