The 57th annual national conference of the AIOTA i.e. OTICON'2020 is being organized from 16th January, (Thursday) to 18th January (Saturday), 2020, at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The conference is being organized to commemorate the platinum jubilee of Occupational Therapy (OT) School and Center, Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College and King Edward VII Memorial (KEM) Hospital, Parel, Mumbai, in collaboration with Mumbai Branch of the AIOTA, with support from OT colleges and institutions of Mumbai. Dr. Jayashri S. Kale, Professor and Head, OT School and Center, KEM Hospital, Mumbai is the Organizing Secretary and Dr. Amitabh K. Dwivedi, Professor and Dean, Jaipur OT College, Jaipur, is the Chairman of the Scientific Program Committee for this conference.

| Nirmala Venkateswaran Trophy for the Best Mini Movie|| |
The AIOTA has accepted the proposal for incepting an award in the cherished memory of Late Dr. Nirmala Venkateswaran. The award will be named as 'Nirmala Venkateswaran Trophy for the Best Mini Movie' and will commence from OTICON'2020. She was the recipient of the AIOTA's Life Time Achievement Award in 2016, at Chennai, for her academic excellence and dedication for advancement of the profession in India.
| AIOTA Resented to Sensory Integration Courses in India by Usc|| |
The AIOTA has strongly resented to University of Southern California (USC), USA, on its provision to permit the other professionals also to undertake Sensory Integration (SI) courses in India. The AIOTA unequivocally conveyed to USC, to discontinue this provision, failing which further strategies may be formulated against the controversial USC policy, that may also include a legal course of action for violation of regulations of Government of India, diluting the discipline of OT and for safe and quality therapeutic intervention of children with sensory processing disorders, which happens to be their ethical right.

Vice President Dr. Shashi Oberai was felicitated for her exemplary contribution for Indian Federation of Neuro-Rehabilitation Conference (IFNR), 2019 at Mumbai from 19th to 20th April, 2019. Dr. Oberai was also an executive official in the organizing committee of IFNR, 2019.
Dr. Saumil Asher, a member of the AIOTA was honored with Young Fellowship Award for the Best Essay in this 7th Annual Conference of IFNR held at Mumbai.
| Dr. Prakash P. Ukey Elected as Treasurer of the Comhad|| |
Dr. Prakash P. Ukey, formerly the AIOTA EC Member and Head of OT School and Center at Government Medical College, Nagpur is elected as Treasurer in the recently elected Executive Board of the Commonwealth Association for Health and Disability (COMHAD). The COMHAD is a Non-Government Organization (NGO) working in official relations with WHO since 1990. It is actively involved in promoting health development, exchange of technical expertise and inter-country training and education in health in 54 Commonwealth countries all over the world. The COMHAD is also working for education and research in health and disability sector for improving the quality of life by raising awareness for prevention of disease and disabilities and promoting healthcare for low and middle income group of the community in urban settings. The eminent pediatrician from Nagpur Dr. Uday G. Bodhankar is the Executive Director of the newly elected COMHAD Board.
| Autism Awarenss Day Events at Chennai|| |
The 12th Annual World Autism Awareness Day was 2nd April, 2019.. Joined by the international community, hundreds of thousands of landmarks, buildings, homes and communities around the world are turned into light blue in recognition of people living with autism.
Tamil Nadu (TN) Branch of the AIOTA has taken a lead to arrange many events in collaboration with OT colleges and other organizations at Chennai with blue dress code.
On 2nd April, 2019, faculties and BOT students of department of occupational therapy, Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai participated in the event of human chain, and distributed brochures for community awareness.
On 5th April, 2019, the faculty of occupational therapy of Meenakshi Academy of Education and Research (Deemed to be University) in collaboration with TN Branch of the AIOTA organized continuing occupational therapy education (COTE) on Autism in the university campus. Resource persons were Dr. Raghuram P, Convener TN AIOTA and Dr. Arun Kumar M, Principal Saveetha College of Occupational Therapy, Chennai. It was attended by faculties, members and students.
On 8th April 2019, TN AIOTA in collaboration with Hopes and Dreams (Centre for Differently Abled Children) arranged lectures, demonstration and parental education and training at Chidambaram with resource persons: Dr. RaghuramPand Dr. Arun Kumar M and Dr. Shankar. Total of 73 parents and students participated in the event.
| Symposium Held on the Modern Approach in Psycho-Neurotic Issues and Lifestyle Disorders|| |
A symposium on 'The Modern Approach in Psycho-Neurotic Issues and Lifestyle Disorders' was organized by Mind Care and Management Associates Private Limited on 17th February, 2019 at The Integral Space, Lower Parel, Mumbai. The resource person, Dr. Pooja P. Mehta, Occupational Therapist, delivered talk on 'Psychosocial Occupational Therapy in Psycho-Neurotic Issues and Lifestyle Disorders. Dr. Sagar Mundada, Psychiatrist, Mr. Mehul Kumar Dave, Neuro-Psychotherapist and Mrs. Vaijanthi Joshi, Nutritionist and Yoga Therapist, were the invited guests.
